Reflections on COVID-19: My IAAC Post #34

in We Are Alive Tribe2 years ago

Last year was a year most of us will never forget in a hurry. It was a year most people had high expectations of things to come. But alas! just after 2 months into the year the world was struck with a dare devil disease codenamed COVID-19 or Coronavirus.

Most of us thought that it was a mere ruse until when the World Health Organisation (WHO) finally declared it a pandemic, that was when all and sundry decided to take it seriously. Provinces, States, Nations and/or Countries went into lockdown. What we thought to be a fluke became a reality. We spent weeks upon weeks indoors and without working. It was never a funny experience.

It was never easy for average income earners. In fact it was never easy for anybody, both the rich and the poor. With the passage of time, the lockdown was eased a little bit. The wearing of face masks and use of sanitisers became the order of the day. You cannot enter any public places without your masks on. No matter how uncomfortable it is on you, you must wear it.

However, with the passage of time vaccines started coming out; Moderna, Oxford-AstraZeneca (which is the one readily available in my country), Johnson and Johnson, Covax, Sputnik V, and a host of others came into circulation and people were encouraged to get vaccinated. The use of facemasks was deemphasized for vaccinated individuals.

It however became surprising that after the availability of these vaccines and the big sigh of relief the world at large heaved, another variant of COVID-19 sprung up...the DELTA Variant. This was said to be very deadly; thus, wearing of facemasks was reintroduced and also the need for people to take 2nd shots of COVID-19 vaccines!

Today, you can't be in court without masks on otherwise you will be sent away whether you have taken the COVID-19 shots or not. Same apply to banks and other financial institutions and probably some government offices. No matter how uncomfortable you look in it, you must wear them. Gentlemen, when will we be free at last? Only time will tell.
