I live barefooted and naked, very close to Earth and Nature, in a 16-acre, off-grid, clothing-optional, food-forest intentional community (GaiaYoga Gardens), way out in the jungles of Lower Puna, far East Big Island, Hawai'i. I love my life, and I'm immensely grateful to live where and how I do, on my own terms! I would not want to live any other way! 😁🙏💚⚡💥🔥✴️✳️❇️👣🌱✨🤙

Warm greetings all! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

Today was quite a lovely day indeed, and not only because of the sunny, warm, and breezy weather! I also had all my Hive catch-up and tasks done pretty early today, so I left the Flow House to go do work on the land just before 2PM. I knew that I would have my new laptop in my hands by the late afternoon, so I wanted to get land work done as early as I could today, so that I would have a good while from late afternoon until I went to sleep to play with it!

The first task on my list was to fix a gutter downspout over one of the carports. This was a super quickly and easy job, and I was done in fewer than five minutes!

The next order of operations was to help Ano and @aukuna dismantle and pack up the pig trap, to give to one of our jungle neighbors. That took us maybe 45 minutes.

The third task was to move the sheep, but this time to simply transfer them from one fenced section directly into another. Ano wanted to eat some food fist, so I waited for him to do that. I saw that Kana had come back from the town run when I went down to Tutu's, and I was excited to see that he had the box with my laptop in in the car! I took the box into Tutu's and opened it to take a peek at my new computer, and man was I impressed with what I saw! It was such a beautiful machine! I had to have patience to really get into it, so I took it back to the Flow House and put it on my bed, then returned to Tutu's to wait for Ano to finish eating.

He didn't take too much longer, and soon we were on our way to the Start Apple Orchard, where the sheep are presently kept. We did a bit of weeding and clearing before we got to the sheep, and we improved the pallet gate. This time around moving the sheep was very quick and easy, especially when compared to the last time we moved them, which was quite the opposite!

Once the sheep were moved, I headed to take a quick shower before heading to the Flow House to dive into my new laptop. Shakira was already taking a shower when I arrived. She was out all day visiting a neighbor with Harmony, so I was surprised to see her. We showered as we talked for a bit. She said that they had a great time over at Eric's, and she told me about some gatherings that he was planning. She also suggested that we do a fire up at the Flow House tonight. I told her I was game. We both finished our shower and dried off, then I went straight to the Flow House to start working with my new computer!

I can't stress enough just how beautiful this computer is, not only in design, but also in its components, and how solid it is! Getting my Arch Linux hard drives to boot in it was super easy and quick, just the way I like it! It has a backlit keyboard that that cycles through rainbow colors! It's an 2022 ASUS TUF F15 Gaming Laptop, with 32GB of DDR4 RAM, an integrated Intel UHD video card and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 dedicated video card, and a 10th Generation i5 CPU. The CPU is the only part that I would have changed if I could afford it. My last laptop that died had an 11th Generation i7, so this CPU is a couple notches below that one, but thankfully I don't really notice it! It's still blazing fast! Although I use my own hard drives, it came with a 1TB hard drive and a 1TB NVME SSD. I took the hard drive out to use it as one of my backups, and I'll use the SSD as a convenient way to transfer files between my three Arch Linux hard drives. The screen also has a refresh rate at 144Hz, so far better than most!

I've been working with it and getting used to it for multiple hours now, and holy jumping fuckmuffins do I love it! I've already compiled/built two custom kernels for it, and I'm starting on a third now, while running on the first custom kernel. Super fun stuff! I'm going to have sooooo much fun with this machine!

Polish_20220714_121754649.jpg

If my previous laptop didn't die one month and twenty days after I got it, then I would not now have this far-superior system. Something that seemed bad allowed me to get something that was far better suited to me! Brilliant stuff indeed!

On that beautiful note I shall end this post for the evening. I want to fiddle little more with my new computer before bed! I deeply appreciate you all! Until tomorrow!

Fantastic to see that you have your new laptop now Tydyn, and it looks great too and with good specs, sorry about the CPU though, enjoy it and stay !ALIVE

By the way I just installed Arch Linux on my phone through the AnLinux app, I am not exactly sure how much time I will have to dive into it but it's up and running now.

The AnLinux app uses Termux to install all the needed packages, and in the case of Arch it also installs a custom kernel for it so it takes a bit of space, I also have Debian installed the same way which uses the phones native kernel so it needs less space plus Debian also seems to run really fast as well, orders of magnitude faster than Termux itself in any case, probably due to running natively on the phones kernel.

It does not require a rooted phone unless you want to connect to it from another device, but that is quite good I think as it's then limited to just it's own file structure and can't do any harm to the rest of the phone, it can of course connect out to the internet though.

Thank you so much Erik, and yes it really is a beautiful machine! Yes, a better CPU would have been great, but honestly I don't even notice it, even when compiling kernels! I am enjoying it so much!

I've heard about installing Linux on Android phones like, but I haven't tried it yet, though I've been very tempted! I think it's really cool that you installed both Arch and Debian on your phone! Yes, using the native Android kernel, which is a modified Linux kernel, would usually run much faster! If I had more space on my phone, I'd give it try myself! I could clear some space I suppose! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
