Happy Friday & Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
On Fridays we share our days with the Alive community. I worked today from 7:45 - 4:30. There was discussion yesterday regarding whether I would mentor a new trainee at work. I told my supervisor I would. I have a few issues with the new (beta) program we have been using in conjunction with the old program for call processing. I voiced my concerns, but I told my supervisor I was willing to help. This morning I didn't see a Teams invitation, so I reached out to confirm what the schedule was. She advised me another representative was scheduled to mentor, but that representative was feeling under the weather. I was asked if I would take over the mentoring and I agreed.
The trainee has only been with the company for a couple of weeks and I was the first representative whom she observed besides the short time before she moved to watching me this morning. We hit it off well and swapped stories. Her life is interesting and we had numerous laughs between calls. She left her job in California working in social services, her husband bought her a farm with 18 acres in Ohio and she's raising pygmy goats, ducks and chickens in addition to farming. My own work backlog was put on pause for training. The work load has been more manageable for the past month, but I don't like falling behind. Mentor volunteering looks good on the resume and today it was a nice experience for me and the trainee.
After work, Jeff took me to dinner for an Irish dish at the local Firehouse. He ordered a Rueban sandwich with onion rings.
I ordered halusczka (cabbage and noodles with bacon).
It's not an Irish dish, but I like it. I would have enjoyed corned beef and cabbage, but it wasn't on the menu.
These folks are serious about Saint Patrick's Day
The waitresses were hopping today. We didn’t consider that in advance, but our town is small and restaurants are few close to home.

This place has a mascot that they dress up for every notable occasion. Today was not an exception.
The dish usually has hard candy in it. I didn't look today because I am (again) experiencing a weather migraine

We drove home and Jeff read his new book, The Terminal List, which the Amazon series was based on. Now he's re-watching the series and remarking on the series' diversions from the book.
Jeff is reading through the book really fast. He's already half way through and it arrived Monday
