This is my post for #freewriters Monday prompt bank failure hosted by @mariannewest
The white truck is mine, when we bought it, it was a nice looking truck. This was many years ago. It is a diesel Ford 250 power stroke, 7.3 engine with 150 something thousand miles on it. This is not many miles for a diesel but the body is falling apart.
We hauled clams in it for several years, and this started the rust. In 2016, I came out of Wal-Mart and saw my bumper hanging half on and half off. I had to tie it back on in the parking lot.
In 2018 the bed was pretty much falling off so we built a new bed out of wood.
The new bed has held up beautifully.
One day I was towing my boat to the boat ramp and the trailer hitch rusted and fell off leaving my boat on the road. I called my husband and he hooked his truck to my boat and took it home. We tied the hitch up so it was not dragging the ground.
In 2021 I was putting my boat on the trailer and my truck jumped out of park and into reverse, my truck went into the river. I rinsed the entire underside with fresh water but I do not think it helped.
I have been noticing the bed leaning to one side and did not know what was wrong.
The front of the bed has a wide gap on one side and on the other is close to the cab.
My husband found the problem, this is the frame of my truck, it is cracked almost all the way through. I love this truck and do not know what I am going to do about it.
The weather has been bad for weeks on end so we have not been fishing, what money we have saved up is going fast. Soon we will be in bank failure so there is no way for me to buy another truck. My husband says that I better take it easy on bumps.
