There were many reasons to be happy about this particular walk. First off, it was my first time leaving my house in weeks and now I finally had an opportunity.
I went over to a very dear friend’s house. Our very own @wongi and shortly after, we were joined by yet another friend, @jhymie, this time. (Yes, I know. This one is an actual Jimmy) and the entire day was spent laughing, gisting and talking about our experiences on Hive, especially since we are all Hivians.
You know that unmatched fun and flow in conversations because everyone present shares a common interest and no one is left behind because everyone can relate to the things said and the jokes made? Yeah, downright exhilarating.
Then towards evening. Actually, much into the evening, one of my them, @wongi, specifically suggested that we go for a walk. This was much welcomed by me because it was an opportunity to take in some beautiful sights and capture some well-needed pictures too. The road led to Calabar- Itu and we were currently in Uyo, so I guess, venturing too far would land us in another state! That's, a bit of an exaggeration thou gh. You'd have to walk quite a lengthy road to be able to get there, but same difference.
We started walking down the road from her house which is just by the highway. I noticed the ground was becoming slopy the more we walked. And I was informed that it was because of the hills up ahead. Beside us, huge trucks passed and I stomached my discomfort. The accident I’d been involved in left with me a kind of PTSD that involved moving vehicles. But I didn’t want to voice it out because I like to think of myself as a big girl and so, I trudged ahead.
My friend had a scenery in mind and we went there. It was so beautiful, taking pictures of the flowers and beautiful grasses that lined the grounds, which turned out to be a kind of decoration for someone’s front yard.
It added to the euphoric adventure though. The thrill of being caught taking pictures of someone’s garden. Although, in all fairness to us, it was just by the road and not through the gate or anything so it didn’t count as trespassing. People are always suspicious in this part of the world so we feared dogs would be let loose on us before we even had a chance to explain ourselves. Oh, the joys.
I do have a horrible phone camera by the way but it didn’t do too badly with the pictures. And testing my photography skills which are next to zero was a sight to see. I wish there was another camera to take pictures of three girls that had turned into amateur photographers, racing each other to see who claimed a flower first.

This place remains special to me because of the memories it holds. Because of the many laughs that were shared and that single taste of freedom for someone like me that had been in for longer than I would have liked.
It’s special because it marked the beginning of new heights to old friendships, strengthening the bonds between friends and talking away all our inhibitions and fears. Watching the sunset is like holding joy in happiness in your hand and watching it glow. That’s how special this day’s walk was.❤️
I would have taken actual pictures of us but we were laughing too hard to take any decent picture. Decent being, if we were to post the ones we took, our 'fine girl' reputation would be in tatters forever. Lol.
All pictures are mine and taken by me.
This is my entry to #WednesdayWalk by @tattoodjay.
