Today is #MarketFriday, a project initiated by @dswigle, and this post is my contribution to this project for this week.

Last week and even the weekend was quite busy. I didn't get out as much as I wanted to and also not for as long as I would have liked to.
So, we didn't manage to get out and get photos for a new...or current #MarketFriday post.
But if I may, I'll share some photos that I have taken previously. I would like to share these photos today, with the intention to let you know what I'm planning for the near future.
The venue I want to highlight today is a venue that we want to visit and spend some money on before the end of this year. We might even go back to visit more than once to get different experiences.
The venue I am talking about is the canals in The Point Waterfront, Durban.
The Point Waterfront in Durban is a new development in the city of Durban. I found this video with some great content about the development of this area. If you look at some of the photos I am sharing of this area from time to time, you will see how far this development has already come along.
There are many things to do, see and appreciate in this area.
So, I'll take you on a detour before we go to the canals.
Instead of heading straight for the canals, we'll stay on the outskirts at first.
As you drive down the main road, you'll have The Point Waterfront on the one side and Durban harbor on the other side, passing by the new Durban Harbor Terminal Building.
Just a little further down, we pass Robsons Brewery. It is a beer brewery, yet you can choose from a great variety of delicious meals if you are hungry.
You can also book in advance and enjoy a tour and a tasting experience at the brewery at R120.00 per person.
With the USD/ZAR at R18.19 at the time of writing, that will be $6.60 per person.
Then, we'll find the offices of the well-known South African Lion Match Company with their impressive entrance.
Following the road, the road makes a 90-degree bend at the bottom, heading down towards the beach while driving alongside the entrance to Durban Harbor. If your timing is right, you might just witness a big ship coming in or leaving the harbor. We were fortunate to witness this ship coming in.
But before we get to the beach, we'll turn away, turning left, entering the Waterfront area, and now going towards the canals.
You'll find some of the most beautiful scenes along the canals.
There are various choices of boat rides available.
If you are in a group or you want to treat your family, there are boat rides available on spacious and luxurious boats, taking you on a relaxing cruise on the canals.
The other options are on gondola boats where you can book per couple or pedal boats that you pay a rate per boat. A pedal boat can take two adults and two kids.
Here is a photo I took of the pedal boats and a gondola boat in the background.
This is where I hope I can whet your appetite a little...
I want to go on some boat rides and share our experience in one of my upcoming #MarketFriday posts.
The rates on the board in the photo are slightly different from what I have found online.
But there is a wide variety of options available. The gondola boats start at R280.00 ($15.39) per couple and go up to a whopping R2450.00 ($134.69) per couple.
The options vary from a day ride to a night ride, to a message-in-a-bottle ride, a picnic ride, and much more...all on the gondola boats.
For a start though, I would like to begin with the familiar $10.00 scenario we sometimes use here in the #MarketFriday community.
I would like to start off with a pedal boat experience. According to rates I have found online, I should be able to book a ride for 1 hour at R150.00 per boat. There are rides available at R100.00 for 30 minutes as well, but I think we'll go for an hour at least. At the current rate, that means it will cost me $8.25, which will still leave me with a $1.25 change from my $10.00.
And that will cover at least an hour for both me and my wife, and we might even take the oldest two grandkids with us as well (the youngest is only 8 months old...and wouldn't really understand what all the fuss is about...lol).
From there, we might consider going back for a nice night ride for me and my wife to get some nice colorful photos at night.
And that's it for today, folks.
Let me know what think of my idea...
Thank you for reading my post! I do appreciate it!
